Marco Neri è Primo Ricercatore presso l’Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, Osservatorio Etneo, Sezione di Catania, Unità Funzionale Gravimetria e Magnetismo. Laurea in Scienze Geologiche.                              

Ha partecipato a tutte le emergenze vulcaniche dell’Etna e dello Stromboli, dal 1990 ad oggi, in qualità di vulcanologo e geologo strutturale. E’ esperto in Vulcanologia, Geologia Applicata, Idrogeologia, Geomorfologia Applicata, Vulcano-tettonica, Monitoraggio strutturale dei vulcani, Rilevamento geologico, Valutazione dei rischi geologici ai fini di Protezione Civile, Valutazione del rischio da ricoprimento lavico, Attività di gas radon lungo faglie.

M. Neri è autore o co-autore di 117 pubblicazioni su riviste con revisori (73 delle quali selezionate nell’International Citation Index). E’ anche autore o co-autore di 170 presentazioni orali e poster in congressi internazionali (133) e nazionali (37).

M. Neri è anche revisore di alcune maggiori riviste nel campo delle Scienze della Terra (Geology, Journal of Geophysical Research, Bulletin of Volcanology, Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, Tectonophysics, Global and Planetary Change, Radiation Measurements, Terra Nova, Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas; Geofisica Internacional, Journal of Environmental Radioactivity; International Research Journal of Geology and Mining).

M. Neri partecipa correntemente in numerosi progetti di ricerca nazionali ed internazionali ed è impegnato in attività divulgative con tematiche geologiche, vulcanologiche e strutturali, in favore di studenti delle scuole di ogni ordine e grado. Recentemente ha partecipato al progetto MIAVITA (Mitigate and Asses risk from Volcanic Impact on Terrain and human Activities), su fondi della Comunità Europea (FP7-ENV-2007-1), durante il quale ha studiato alcuni vulcani dell'Indonesia e delle Filippine.
