Research field

My research interests has focused on the understanding of the mechanisms promoting Earth's surface deformation and stress conditions in and around volcanoes and tectonic active areas. To address these questions I use a combination of techniques from structural geology, geodesy, seismology, geophysical prospecting and computer modelling. Currently I’m studying the ground deformation patterns of Mt. Etna volcano by analyzing the GPS data collected by continuous and campaign stations. I have studied also the ground deformation patterns associated to the last eruptions occurred on Mt. Augustine (Alaska, USA) and Mt. St. Helens (Washington, USA) volcanoes. I’m studying also the deformation processes occurring on the Mediterranean area related to the convergence process of the Eurasian and African plates.
