Etna and Stromboli update, 3 March 2013

After the paroxysmal eruptive episode at Etna's New Southeast Crater on 28 February 2013, there have been no further events of this kind; however, vigorous and continuous Strombolian activity is still going on at the Voragine, where eruptive activity started on the morning of 27 February after more than 13 years of quiescence. At Stromboli, new small lava overflows have occurred from the crater terrace between 27 February and 2 March. A detailed report of the eruptive activity of Etna and Stromboli between 27 February and 2 March 2013 is available here.
